Honeymoon Phase
Words and music © 2015 J. Ochshorn
Verse 1a
So I hear you've fallen for someone
I can see a romance has begun
Maybe it's your first love maybe not
Still you thirst for what he's got
Verse 1b
Nothing in your past has prepared you
Nothing that has happened yet has scared you
You're on your knees like he's a savior
Maybe he's just on his best behavior
Chorus 1
Cause you're going through the honeymoon phase
Put on the record you'll see how it plays
Yes you're going through the honeymoon phase
You're gonna need to find a way out of this maze
Cause you're going through the honeymoon phase
Yes you're going through the honeymoon phase
I see you're going through the honeymoon phase
You'll be disappointed in a thousand ways
Verse 2
When you're in his arms you wanna shout
When he's not around you dream about
Everything he does while your love grows
Why? Because that's just the way it goes
Chorus 2
When you're going through the honeymoon phase
The trains run on time with no delays
When you're going through the honeymoon phase
He might even take you to some Broadway plays
Cause you're going through the honeymoon phase
Yes you're going through the honeymoon phase
I see you're going through the honeymoon phase
You'll be disappointed in a thousand ways
Instrumental and half-chorus
Verse 3
Well you'll want to know what happens next
Both of you will end up so perplexed
Living a lie leaving you in pain
Wondering why things just could not remain
Chorus 3
Like they were in the honeymoon phase
When you could see the sun on the cloudiest days
When you're going through the honeymoon phase
Everything is black and white with no grays
Cause you're going through the honeymoon phase
Yes you're going through the honeymoon phase
I see you're going through the honeymoon phase
You'll be disappointed in a thousand ways

Video notes:
The video consists of a Photoshopped string of images of young couples in love (see the end of the video for attributions). Also of interest are the two animated "Rollover.2" segments; the first shows the "Rollo" letters in the same red chevy featured on Rollo's Heyday of the Automobile video crashing into the word, "version 2," and transforming into Rollo-ver.2, or Rollover.2. The second starts with a quote from Chuck Berry, taken out of context: "Long as she has a dime, the music won't never stop. Roll over..." in which the words, "Roll over" transform into Rollover.2. The quote, of course, is from the song, "Roll Over Beethoven."
