I wrote this song in the early 1980s, recording a preliminary version on a cassette tape and then promptly forgetting that I ever wrote it. One day, many years later, I uncovered the cassette in a dusty box and listened to it. It took a while before I convinced myself that it was something I had written many years before; I then proceeded to re-learn it, and — in 2008 — recorded it on Garageband.
I Can Give You Love
Words and music © 1983 J. Ochshorn
1. If you're looking for some money
I don't think that I can help you honey
I'm not a banker I don't have a lot
All I can give you is what I have got
[Chorus] I can give you love (3x)
2. If you're looking for some action
I can't give you any satisfaction
I'm not a dealer I can't get you high
There's only one thing that I can supply [Chorus]
[Bridge] If you want it you only have to call my name
Ii'll be there just for you
If you need it you never have to be ashamed
Girl you know it's true
I'm giving all my love to you
3. If you're looking for salvation
I can't give you any explanations
I'm not a preacher I can't make you pray
But if you're looking for another way [Chorus]
