This is pretty much the first song I wrote, back in 1978. The recording was done live in October 2009 using GarageBand software, in one take, with the Flip camcorder running (and with some imaginary musicians joining me for the final verse). Remixed in 2018, with some added instrumentation.
Long Distance Love Affair
Words and music © 1978 J. Ochshorn
1. You and him been together so long
You're always walking hand in hand
Think it might last forever? well you're wrong
Even mountains turn to sand
Now you say he has to go away
But even so you're gonna be a pair
Long distance love affair
2. First he'll write lonely letters and you'll smile
Thinking about him far away
You'll write back and he'll feel better for a while
Still he has to face the day
All alone he'll call you on the phone
He wants to know if you'll still be there
Long distance love affair
[Bridge] Lying in bed he's all alone
The touch of your skin is just a memory
It goes to his head but it's no good to phone
Cause you're far away and there's nothing more to say
3. Visiting on his vacation you explain
You're going out with your new friend
He won't ask for explanations he'll just feel the pain
Everything must have an end
Pretty soon he'll find someone new
And you won't even care
Long distance love affair
